Artist Statement
I am a senior A.P. Studio Art student at Shippensburg Area High School. I’ve always loved to draw as a child, and my parents have always complimented my skills as a youngster - as all parents do. With that being said, I’ve never thought of my art as extraordinary, because parents believe everything their children do is incredible. I sought refuge in the admiration of others. As I grew older, I began to appreciate the complexity of art in the world around me. Something struck a chord in me, and all of a sudden, I wanted my art to play a part in someone’s world. I believe artists see the world differently; in fact, I’ve learned to notice the beauty in the simplicity. I strive to find beauty anywhere - whether it's a cup of coffee, a bird perched on a telephone wire, or even the look of the sky after a storm. My strongest medium to work with is acrylic paint. I love to paint figures, portraits, and landscapes that tell a story. I love expressive art, and art that takes risks. Creating paintings that incorporate odd colors and textures is what I strive for, because I believe the unexpected adds to the mystery of the work. Art is open to interpretation. The main goal with all of my creations is to make the viewers feel something incredible when they look at my art, but let the artwork decide how the viewer feels.

"Just remember, you were never an empty vessel. You walked into this world carrying the hopes and dreams of your parents. You grow up carrying your own, and you age carrying your successes and failures. You have not been, and never will be, an empty vessel."
